To ensure building compliance, fire doors should be tagged to show building owners, occupiers and maintenance contractors the basics relevant to the tested door type which are nominated as essential safety measures.

Fire door inspections must identify fire door tags, allowing inspectors to classify fire doors that are compliant in accordance with AS1905.1 - 'Components for the protection of openings in fire-resistant-walls-Fire resistant doorsets'.

The BCA references this standard, and is therefore part of building approvals process across Australia, meaning fire doors must be compliant with relevant standards in order to satisfy the relevant building authorities.
