What are passive fire systems?

Passive fire protection systems are designed to contain the spread of fire, smoke and gases allowing for the safe evacuation of occupants from the building and safety for fire and emergency personnel. Various service contractors create penetrations in floors, walls and other structural components of your facilities when installing services. These penetrations are often not correctly sealed to adhere to the relevant standards or not sealed at all.

Passive fire systems work by eliminating or reducing gaps and installing fire stopping solutions where fire or smoke might be able to spread throughout a building. These solutions aim at preventing or reducing the spread of fire, smoke and gasses in the case of an emergency, allowing for occupants to evacuate in a safe manner.
